    Rancher Philip Crosthwaite, believed to have been the first White settler, arrived in 1859, and soon the valley became an agricultural community.


    The Poway Municipal water District formed in 1954, and with water came growth. Lake Poway was created en 1971, and the town incorporated in 1980.
